APPRAISAL, TRANSITION, AND CLOSURE |
Project Wrap-Up includes three key activities: Appraisal -- Evaluating the project's results and identifying improvements for next time. Transition -- Moving things from the development project to the ongoing support (e.g. production, maintenance, etc.). Closure -- The importance of cleaning out and taking time to celebrate.
Using a formal wrap-up process: - Facilitates continuous process improvement for the next effort via lessons learned.
- Facilitates the effective transition to the ongoing program (production/maintenance) support.
- Ensure that responsibility is formally shifted so team members are not continually pulled back in inappropriately.
- Enables projects which must be suspended or canceled early to be left in a way that the work can be used if the project is revived.
- Provides an emotional release from projects which are abandoned but not forgotten.
