What is Strategic Information Resource Management?
Information Resource Management (IRM) treats information as an
organizational asset that must be managed as any other organizational asset (e.g. cash,
facilities, etc.).
Strategic IRM Planning (SIRMP) is setting a direction and
vision for leveraging Information Resources to achieve the organization's Business
Vision.
Why Strategic IRM Planning?
- To better enable our business with technology
- To provide an understandable connection between IR expenditures and business results
- To provide a sense that technology expenditures are "investments" that we can build on over time
