Online Entry of Agency SIRMP Information

About the agency Web interface for SIRMP

This year, for the first time, agency Strategic Information Resource Management Planning (SIRMP) information will be collected in a statewide database. A web interface has been created to allow agencies to provide information about their business and about their Information Resource projects in a consistent format.

Each agency will work from a home page that looks like this:

The screens closely follow the format of the printed SIRMP plan and the template used in the SIRMP workshops.

The Executive Summary provides a short (1-2 page) summary of the plan.

Direction includes the agency's business strategy in the form of Intentions, Values, and Services, with priority rankings. It also includes the agency's vision for Information Resources.

Assessment includes both business and technology assessment of agency services. This serves as a source for a scatter diagram illustrating the services that are in good shape versus those that can be improved - places where technology investment could have an impact on improving the agency's business.

Projects are listed in summary form, with details provided by clicking on the project name.

The Appendix includes any supporting information for the plan, from the Issues and Opportunity list to inventories and network diagrams.

Click on Compiled SIRMP document to see the complete plan formatted for the Web or print.

How to provide SIRMP information

To access the agency SIRMP website, start with the Office of Technology Home page at www.ot.state.mn.us. Then follow the 'Featured Link' to agency SIRMP.

You will need to login to enter your agency's SIRMP. On first use, select your agency name from the drop down list and create a password. This will take you to the agency home page.

Navigate through the plan sections by following the links and tabs. Work from top to bottom trhough Direction, Assessment, and Projects, because the information you provide for Direction is reused for both Assessment and Projects.

Your information can be typed in, or you can cut-and-paste from the MS Word SIRMP template and other sources. In contrast to the Word version, this is a database, and individual data fields are entered and stored separately. The 'Apply changes' button saves your work on a page.

You can logoff and return to SIRMP entry at any time. The system will remain active until the state budget is complete, and you are encouraged to refine project information as time goes on.

The data you enter will allow a statewide view of projects, while also creating an online version of your printed SIRMP plan.

If you have any questions or problems with entering your SIRMP information, please contact Greg Peterson at the Office of Technology: greg.peterson@state.mn.us.
